I was born and raised in Florida, and I started PennySmart Group after years of watching neighbors, families, and small business owners pay premium prices for impersonal service.
Before opening PennySmart Group, I spent over twenty years working in Risk, Insurance, and claims environments serving large corporations. Working closely with CFOs, business leaders, and corporate teams gave me firsthand experience in how businesses operate financially, how important accuracy and communication are, and how overwhelming complex processes can feel for everyday people.
I learned the work the slow way, and I built the office I wished my parents had access to when they were trying to navigate taxes, paperwork, financial decisions, and important documents on their own.
Professional service shouldn’t require premium-level pricing — and the people helping you
shouldn’t feel like strangers you only hear from once a year.
My philosophy is simple: be available, be transparent, and explain the work in plain language. I don’t believe in upsells, surprise fees, or sending people out the door with paperwork they don’t fully understand.
Our small team — myself, Angie, and Melissa — handles everything from your first call through completion. We’re bilingual not because it’s a feature, but because the people we serve deserve to discuss important financial and personal matters in the language they think in.

Most individual returns are completed within 3–5 business days of receiving your documents. Business returns and complex filings take longer; we’ll give you a realistic timeline at the start, not a generic SLA promise.
For most clients: a photo ID, last year’s return, and any income documents (W-2s, 1099s, K-1s). We’ll send a personalized checklist after your first call so nothing’s missed.
Yes. We work with clients across all of SW Florida — Venice, Punta Gorda, Englewood — and remotely with anyone in Florida via secure document upload and video calls.

A CPA is a certified public accountant licensed for audit-level accounting work. A qualified tax preparer (like our team — IRS AFSP participants) is trained specifically for tax preparation and filing. For most individuals and small businesses, you don’t need a CPA — and you shouldn’t pay CPA prices.
